Lately, a lot of people are switching their diet to raw food – meaning, uncooked. Some do it because they got doctors orders (maybe to cure a disease), and some just figured out it is much healthier for the body. Either way, raw food has some great advantages and it is known to contribute to longevity.
Eating raw and unprocessed food is basically what nature intended, so there is a lot of sense in this method. Still, it’s recommended to start the process of switching to raw food in stages, since a dramatic change can have negative effects on the body.
A great way to start is with your breakfast. You can replace your usual coffee and toast with a smoothie made entirely of fresh fruit or vegetables. This is a nourishing and energizing way to start you day.
In the middle of the day, when you want a snack, take a fruit. It will give you the sugar you crave for and also will supply the energy and fibers the body needs. You can also try dehydrated fruits like raspberries, bananas, dates and strawberries.
The most important thing to remember is to not overdo all at once. Start with the simple things and gradually move on to more complicated meals. It is not necessary to turn your entire kitchen upside down, so just go easily.
